Lakenheath Fen R.S.P.B.: 5th May 2012

We decided to go inland today as the wind was northerly and with a bank holiday the coastal reserves will be busy. Weeting Heath and Lakenheath Fen is were we ended up. We started at Weeting and soon saw 2 Stone-Curlews apparently the first nest was predated by a fox and this pair were displaying and getting ready to start laying a second brood.
We then drove on to Lakenheath the wind was cold however out of the wind it was very pleasant so we sat in the shelter over looking joist fen where the above shots of the harrier were taken. Whilst here we also saw 6 Hobby's, Cetti's Warbler, Bittern -flying low over the reedbed- and numerous swifts, house martins and on the walk down sedge warbler and cuckoo.
Camera Nikon D50 + Tamron 70-300mm lens.
